Memorex, a manufacturer of DVD recordable discs, has openly admitted
that DVD recordable discs are far more sensitive to humidity than CD-R discs in environmental tests, in its whitepaper on lifetime expectations on optical discs, dated March 2006. This means that DVD recordable discs have a much shorter lifespan compared to CD-R discs. »

All discs were burned on my BenQ DW1620 in mid to late september of 2004.
All original scan were done with the LiteON LTN-832S, running firmware VS0A, using K-Probe 2.4.2. All followup scans were *ALSO* run using the same LTN-832S running firmware VS0A, and K-Probe 2.4.2.
Thank you to MediumRare for assisting me in getting both the firmware *AND* the version of K-Probe needed

It has a hardend coating to prevent scratches and fingerprints, and comes in a good quality DVD case (sells in 3-paks). You'll be looking at about $2-$3 per disc, depending on where you buy it. I don't know anywhere in the USA selling it at this time, but NCIX.com has it and will ship to the USA (it's on their current sale today too!

I now use Acro Circle 16x DVD+Rs,
Verbatim 8x and 16x DVD±Rs,
and Maxell BQ 8x DVD-Rs
(in order of importance from least to most).
Taiyo Yuden has completely fallen off my use list!!
